Where do I buy skates & stuff?

We are fortunate to have several great skate shops and gear buying options in our area.

  • Oaks Park Pro-shop: Great selection of beginner skates & gear. 10% discount for derby skaters.  

  • Five Stride: New Portland location off Sandy Blvd. Very knowledgeable owners.

  • Derbywarehouse.com: Excellent pricing. 20% discount for Crow City Skaters (ask us for our discount code). Can be challenging to get the right fit if you are new to gear purchasing.

Required Gear & Equipment

You MUST wear:

  • A helmet

  • Elbow pads

  • Knee pads

  • Wrist guards

  • Mouth guard (Most experienced skaters wear a SISU mouth guard which are spendy but very comfortable)

  • Quad roller skates  

 

What do I wear to practice?

Come wearing comfortable exercise clothing that makes you feel fantastic. Most skaters wear fitted athletic pants or shorts with a tank top or a t-shirt. Socks are required if you are using loaner skates.

Some people like to wear crazy printed party pants, while others wear solid black. It's all up to you! Please do not wear pants that are longer than your ankles or that flare at the bottom as this creates a potential safety issue.
